Fox River Access

Your website, usable by everyone who lands on it.

WCAG 2.2 AA audits and fixes for Fox Valley businesses. We check every page the way a screen-reader, keyboard and low-vision user meets it, send you a plain-English fix list with a price, and make the fixes ourselves if you want them done.

No compliance certificates, no scare tactics, no overlay widgets. An owner-reviewed audit, exact fixes, and a written record you can show anyone who asks.

What we found on 50 local business sites this week

We scanned the home pages of fifty dental practices, law firms, restaurants, shops, gyms and contractors across Aurora, Naperville, the Tri-Cities, Oswego and Plainfield. Automated checks only; a full audit finds roughly twice as much.

Finding
Who it blocks
What it looks like on your site
Serious Text too faint to read
Low-vision readers, anyone outdoors on a phone
Grey-on-white body text, light buttons, hours and addresses in thin type. Fails the 4.5:1 contrast minimum.
Critical Images with no description
Screen-reader users
Your logo, menu photos and "Call now" buttons read aloud as "image" or a file name.
Serious Links with no name
Screen-reader and voice-control users
Icon links and image links that announce only "link". Social icons are the usual culprit.
Moderate Pinch-zoom switched off
Anyone who enlarges text on a phone
A single line in the page header that stops visitors zooming in on your menu or your map.
Moderate Headings out of order
Screen-reader users navigating by outline
Pages that jump from a title to a sub-sub-heading, so the outline a blind visitor hears makes no sense.

Why it matters in Illinois

Website accessibility lawsuits under the ADA reached 3,117 federal filings in 2025, and Illinois was third in the country with 585. Most defendants are small businesses, not national chains. Beyond the legal side, about one in four American adults has a disability, and the fixes that help them (contrast, labels, keyboard access) also help everyone using a phone in sunlight.

Automated scanners and overlay widgets catch roughly half of the problems, and the FTC fined one overlay vendor $1 million in 2025 for claiming otherwise. That's why every audit we deliver is reviewed and signed by a person before it goes out, and why we never sell a "compliance guarantee."

How it works

  1. Free scan

Send your address. Within one business day you get a short email with your home page's top three issues, in plain English. No obligation.

  2. Full audit

We crawl up to 25 pages on desktop and mobile, run the WCAG 2.2 AA checks, then check keyboard flow, focus, forms, headings and media page by page. You get a prioritized fix list with the WCAG criterion, the pages affected, what it means for a real visitor, and how to fix it. Delivered within 5 business days of payment.

  3. Fixes

If you want them done, we make the changes on WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify, Wix or custom sites, re-test, and deliver a before-and-after record.

  4. Monitoring

Optional monthly re-scan with a one-page report, so new pages and plugin updates don't quietly undo the work.

Questions

Will this make my site ADA compliant?

There is no official ADA certification for websites. WCAG 2.2 AA is the standard courts and the Department of Justice reference. We audit and fix against it and give you a dated record of the work, which is what matters if anyone ever asks. We don't sell guarantees, and we'd be wary of anyone who does.

I already have an accessibility widget. Isn't that enough?

Overlay widgets change how a page looks for some visitors but don't fix the underlying code, and sites running one are still named in lawsuits. We'll tell you whether yours is helping or hurting and what to do instead.

Who does the work?

Fox River Access is owned and run by Benjamin Cutrer, an engineer in Aurora with a background in process and mechanical engineering. The scanning and first draft are AI-assisted; every report is reviewed and signed by Benjamin before it goes out, and the same shop makes the fixes.

What platforms do you fix?

WordPress (including Elementor, Divi and WPBakery), Squarespace, Shopify, Wix, Webflow, Duda and hand-built sites. For dealer, hospitality and school platforms with locked templates we document what the vendor must change and help you file the request.
